Clinic Ascends to Full Membership

Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic achieves full member status.

The VAFCC is excited to announce that Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic, managed by the Culpeper Wellness Foundation, in Orange County has met the full member standards of the association moving from an Associate Clinic Member to a Full Clinic Member. A mark of distinction, this higher membership level not only reflects their commitment to serving our state's sickest and most vulnerable patients at no or little cost, but also demonstrates their ability to meet best practice membership standards attesting to the clinic's soundness in nonprofit management and patient care.

Shari Landry with the Culpeper Wellness Foundation affirmed that, “Going through the application process provided an opportunity to align in support of our commitment to expanding free dental care.” The Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic has been providing affordable dental care for more than a decade. This year, the clinic expanded its partnership with area medical-only free clinics to provide their patients with free quality oral health care. “We began providing free urgent dental services to area clinic patients this January with the goal of expanding the breadth and volume of our free service over time,” shares Landry. Area free clinics include Orange County Free Clinic, Free Clinic of Culpeper, and Madison Free Clinic. Services offered at Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic include routine dentistry for all ages, preventative care, and restorative care. The clinic is also equipped to provide language translation, adaptive help, and referrals to specialists.

Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic is one of 70 free and charitable clinics across the state that are members of the VAFCC. These clinics are part of a statewide network that is working towards a healthier Virginia. “Every person deserves access to basic health care services, and Virginia's network of free and charitable clinics are there to provide accessible and inclusive services to those that fall through the gaps of the healthcare system,” said Rufus Phillips, CEO of the VAFCC. “The clinics serve as a safety net to those in need by providing patients with a medical home and a pathway to better health regardless of their ability to pay.”
