Free & Charitable Clinics

Virginia’s Network of Free and Charitable Clinics: A Lifesaving Investment

Playing an important role in safeguarding the state’s low-income population by providing comprehensive health care for those who would otherwise go without. Free clinics are volunteer-driven, community supported nonprofit organization dedicated to providing no or low cost quality healthcare to the uninsured.

In the last year, our 60+ member clinics reported:

  • 67,900+ vulnerable Virginians were treated regardless of their ability to pay
  • 285,400+ patient visits
  • 11,600+ licensed healthcare professional and lay volunteers donated their time
A solid investment of resources for greater healthcare impact, our member clinics leveraged a collective operating budget of $40 million in the past year into $191 million worth of care – made possible through collaborative partnerships, in-kind support and the generosity of volunteers as well as a generous state appropriation which the VAFCC administers and disperses directly to member clinics for care provided to uninsured adult patients.

A Lifesaving Investment

Working towards a Virginia where all people have access to comprehensive, quality healthcare by supporting and advocating for our member clinics so that hardworking individuals and families are protected from healthcare crises.
