Clinic Ascends to Full Membership
Lucy Corr Foundation Dental Clinic achieves full member status.
The VAFCC is excited to announce that the Lucy Corr Foundation Dental Clinic in Chesterfield has met the full member standards of the association moving from an Associate Clinic Member to a Full Clinic Member. A mark of distinction, this designation not only highlights Lucy Corr Foundation Dental Clinic's commitment to serving Virginia's sickest and most vulnerable patients, but also how the clinic meets best practice in nonprofit management and governance as well as patient care and safety.
“The support the Lucy Corr Foundation Dental Clinic received as an associate member of the VAFCC, especially during COVID, made it apparent that obtaining full membership would significantly improve the ability of the Dental Clinic to not only continue with but expand upon providing oral health care services to uninsured and underserved members of the geriatric population,” said Dental Clinic Coordinator Kristen Bruce. The dental clinic provides free quality oral health care to Lucy Corr residents and uninsured and underserved seniors aged 65 and older who live in Chesterfield and surrounding communities including the greater Richmond metro area. Services include routine exams, cleanings, screenings, periodontal care, fluoride treatments, extractions, new dentures and partials, denture repairs and cleanings, x-rays, and oral health education. In 2023, they provided care for 347 patients in 1,147 visits. Since the 2012 renovation of the dental clinic, they have provided over $3 million worth of free dental care to vulnerable members of the geriatric population.“The Lucy Corr Foundation Dental Clinic provides much needed care to hundreds of patients every year,” said Rufus Phillips, CEO of the VAFCC. “The clinic's dental professionals and volunteers step up every day for vulnerable seniors living in their community. We look forward to working alongside the clinic's team to help more Virginians access quality healthcare regardless of their ability to pay.” Lucy Corr Foundation Dental Clinic is one of more than 65 member free and charitable clinics in the VAFCC's membership.
