Educational Opportunities for Members

Hear how the VAFCC provides affordable and flexible degree options for members.

Member Spotlight: Christina Steele, Volunteer Coordinator with the Charlottesville Free Clinic

"I am currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration, with a focus on healthcare management. Upon graduation, my goal is to utilize the skills I've acquired during the program to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare industry, particularly in my role as a volunteer coordinator."

"I greatly appreciate the opportunity to study at WGU, as it aligns perfectly with my requirements for an online MBA program. WGU offers the convenience of online classes, ensuring that I can balance my studies with my work schedule. Being a working professional, I don't have the flexibility to attend physical classes throughout the day, so the online format suits me well. Furthermore, WGU is an accredited institution, which was a crucial factor in my decision-making process. Additionally, the affordability of the program was important to me. I wanted to choose a school that I could realistically afford and pay off after graduation. When I compared the cost of attendance at WGU with other options, it became evident that WGU was the obvious choice."

"One aspect I particularly appreciate about WGU's program is that it focuses on essential courses directly related to the skills I need in my field. This approach eliminates unnecessary "filler" classes that would consume more of my time and money. Consequently, I will be able to complete my degree in a shorter timeframe, which is a significant advantage.  I have been working at the Charlottesville Free Clinic for 1.5 years as a volunteer coordinator, which has further solidified my commitment to pursuing a degree in healthcare management. With the knowledge and tools, I gain from my degree program at WGU, I am confident that I will be better equipped to excel in my role and contribute positively to the healthcare industry."
