VAFCC Membership Grows
Join us in welcoming the VAFCC's newest member, Radford University CARES Mobile Health Clinic (CARES MHC). This faculty-led, student-run initiative delivers high-quality, compassionate care directly to communities across both the Roanoke and the New River Valleys as well as Southwest Virginia. Through strong partnerships with local organizations, CARES MHC expands healthcare and mental health access to rural and underserved areas.
"We joined the Virginia Association of Free & Charitable Clinics to connect with a network of organizations dedicated to improving healthcare access and health outcomes for rural and underserved communities. We are committed to expanding access to care through innovative community partnerships and mobile healthcare delivery. Our membership will provide opportunities for us to learn from fellow clinics, access valuable resources, engage in advocacy efforts, and identify best practices that strengthen our ability to serve rural populations," shares Amanda Hudgins, Clinic Director. With a mission to improve community health outcomes while educating and empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals through experiential, interprofessional care delivery, the mobile unit provides maternal health screenings, preventative screenings, health education, resource navigation, and interprofessional student learning experiences.
CARES MHC joins into a membership of more than 70 free and charitable clinics across the state that are working towards a Virginia where all people have access to comprehensive, quality healthcare. Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Richmond, the VAFCC has served as an effective advocate for the issues and concerns of free and charitable clinics, their volunteer workforce, and the vulnerable patients served by free and charitable clinics throughout the Commonwealth.
