Four Join VAFCC Board
The VAFCC is pleased to have four new members join our board of directors.
The Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (VAFCC) is proud to announce the appointment of four distinguished leaders to its Board of Directors. These new members bring a diverse array of expertise, and we welcome their visionary leadership as we continue to expand healthcare access across Virginia. Andrea Ahonen, Chief Executive Officer, GoochlandCaresA passionate advocate for healthcare access, Andrea's expertise includes building sustainable fundraising programs, mentoring high-performing teams, and crafting compelling branding strategies. She possesses a deep understanding of the unique challenges facing the free and charitable clinic community (staff and volunteer retention, navigating shifting federal policies, and the need for diversified funding sources) and is committed to helping the VAFCC build resilient programs that ensure long-term sustainability and high-quality care for underserved populations across the Commonwealth.
Ethan Betterton, VP Government Relations, Virginia Chamber of CommerceEthan joins as a representative of the Commonwealth's business community and a proponent of expanding access to care. Focused on supporting the VAFCC's clinics through federal policy shifts, high service demand, and the need for better coordination with large-scale healthcare providers, he believes that improving the integration of systems and practices between clinics and specialized providers will be essential for delivering comprehensive care to underserved populations. By bridging commerce and community health, he is committed to strengthening the VAFCC's impact and ensuring the long-term resilience of clinics.

Ashley O. Greene, Executive Director, Western Tidewater Free Clinic
Ashley joins as a vital representative for the Hampton Roads region with a long history of involvement with the VAFCC. She brings extensive experience in nonprofit development and healthcare administration. As a board member, she hopes to improve public awareness and community education around the impact and availability of Virginia's network of free clinics to serve those in need as well as fostering more connected and technologically resilient clinics.
Aaron Lambert, Medicaid President, Anthem HealthKeepers Plus Aaron joins as a leader from Anthem, bringing a unique perspective of health plans, providers, and community organizations. As a board member, he intends to focus on addressing rising patient demand by diversifying revenue and strengthening partnerships between clinics, payers, and philanthropy, combating staff and volunteer shortages through statewide recruitment initiatives and academic partnerships as well as bridging gaps in dental, behavioral health, and specialty services by leading collaborative telehealth efforts and building robust referral networks.
