Educational Opportunities
The VAFCC has teamed with Western Governors University to provide affordable and flexible degrees for our members.
The VAFCC is pleased to announce our partnership with the Western Governors University to train the next generation of health care professionals. With this partnership, employees and volunteers at VAFCC member clinics will have their application fees waived when applying toward bachelor's and master's degrees in healthcare, business and other related fields at WGU. Applicants who are accepted will also be eligible to apply for the Healthcare Partners Connect Scholarship worth up to $2,500.
“Clinics are facing the same workforce challenges as the rest of the healthcare industry and we hope this partnership will not only enhance their ability to provide care, but also recruit, retain, and source talent as they continue to experience pent-up demand for care,“ said VAFCC CEO Rufus Phillips.
WGU isn't like traditional schools. The school uses an online, competency based program support by mentors, allowing students to demonstrate their skills. With this model, their more flexible programming will allow volunteers and employees to take the next step in their education while still able to continue providing care.
“At WGU, we are committed to changing lives through education,” said Rebecca Watts, Ph.D., regional vice president at WGU. “By working with partners like the VAFCC, we expand educational opportunities for adults with busy schedules to advance their personal and professional goals.” WGU degree programs include undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing, healthcare management, healthcare services coordination, health information management, business management and leadership, accounting, and computer science.
