A Statement to Our Partners

Reaffirming our commitment to addressing health inequities rooted in racism.

In light of this week's Washington Post article regarding the friction at the Virginia Department of Health over the role of racism in public health, we believe it is important to reaffirm the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics belief that health care is a right and not a privilege. As an organization, we value human dignity and champion equal access to quality, compassionate healthcare services for all people regardless of race, color, or nation of origin.

Our member clinics not only provide access to quality health care for the medically underserved across the state but also work to overcome the health inequities many marginalized communities face.

Together with our safety net partners and supporters, we reaffirm our continued support of Virginia's communities of color and the need to address systemic racism by continuing our efforts toward achieving health equity and minimizing the socio-economic inequities that influence people's health. We endeavor to be agents of change, hope and healing in pursuit of a healthier Commonwealth for all.
