VAFCC Welcomes New Clinic Leader

The Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics is pleased to welcome a new clinic leader to Fredericksburg Counseling Services

The VAFCC extends a heartfelt welcome to Dr. Kimberly Harris Kennedy, Fredericksburg Counseling Services' new Executive Director.

In her own words:

"For over fifty years, Fredericksburg Counseling Services (FCS) has been key in making mental health more accessible to uninsured residents in our community -- in addition to providing clinical training and supervision opportunities to tomorrow's mental health providers. Over fifteen years ago, I started out as a resident here at FCS and now, I am excited to return in a leadership position to carry out its two-fold mission.

I am a licensed professional counselor and have worked in a variety of clinical settings including Anne Arundel Medical Center, the Rappahannock Community Services Board, Rappahannock Regional Jail, in addition to private practice. I have also worked as a training consultant with the Fairy Godmother Project, a non-profit agency that supports families impacted by pediatric cancer. I have lived in Fredericksburg most of my life. It is a special place and I have seen it grow over the years in its diversity and sense of community. I believe FCS has been instrumental in this growth and am grateful for VAFCC's support in working together to make our community stronger."

We are pleased to also share that during its July 2021 meeting, the VAFCC Board of Directors voted to approve Fredericksburg Counseling Services' request for full membership status into the association. View all member clinics here and learn more about membership here
