We are looking for more than a few good men and women. Do you have a passion for actually making a difference in the daily lives of people in need? That's what our volunteers do. They change lives by touching those lives in a Free Clinic. Few opportunities exist that are more rewarding. And if you talk to our volunteers, you will find people who are addicted

Resource Manual
The Virginia Association of Free Clinics continues its support of organizations across the Commonwealth that are seeking to provide free, or lost cost, health care for uninsured and underinsured people in their local community.

 To support that effort, the VAFC has created a Resource Manual to assist in developing the systems needed to support as free clinic in your area. The information is comprehensive and is in the form of a Zip File for easy transmittal and download.

Please feel free to use this information. Call us, if the VAFC can assist with other materials. The VAFC does not have funding to support the start-up costs of a new clinic.

Help Us Make A Difference

We couldn’t provide the level of care we do without the incredible support of volunteers. In 2010, more than 14,000 Virginians volunteered at a Free Clinic. These included:

  • 3,227 physicians
  • 1,635 nurses
  • 282 nurse practitioners
  • 89 physician assistants
  • 731 dentists
  • 220 dental hygienists
  • 329 dental assistants
  • 269 pharmacists
  • 422 pharmacy technicians
  • 68 Psychiatrists
  • 160 mental health counselors
  • 912 other health professionals
  • 5,694 non-clinical volunteers

Many of our volunteers have been doing it for years. They enjoy helping others and give their time to help make a difference. As you see by the numbers above, many people who are not health care professionals are volunteering their time to help with a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. That means if you’ve got some time to share, we’ll put you to work!
